That Hateful Critic

Sometimes I am amazed at the truly terrible things I say to myself about myself. For example, when I make a mistake or am reviewing the events of the day the self talk is scathing.

What is the purpose of this? Does it ever actually improve the quality of life for me?

When I talk to patients, they agree: the hateful, hostile critic. How to silence it?
