My passion for ADHD Therapy stems from the work I put into trying to make sense of myself and the world around me.

If you've been diagnosed as an adult, you have the weight of years of experiencing the pain of unrecognized potential and misunderstood intentions. You probably didn't understand the “why” of relationships faltering, promotions that didn't materialize, friendships fizzling out. You feel your life was mismanaged, you may even feel haunted by regret of the missed opportunities and fumbled chances. You may struggle with rejection sensitivity.

To not understand why this is happening is punishing.

When I first learned I had ADHD it meant very little to me. I shared the common misconception that people with ADHD can't focus or concentrate or remember anything.

I have since learned that there are so many other ways ADHD impacts one's life—and that is the reason I do what I do. The ADHD diagnosis and treatment is life-changing, I see it all the time. It is the reason I do what I do.

The ADHD world is curvilinear. Past, present, and future are never separate and distinct. Everything is now.

Learning that your difficulties stem from neurology and not psychology or lack of ambition or willpower (you're not stupid or lazy or crazy), opens the door to a truly new sense of self.

Learning about ADHD can help you, as it did me, craft your life in a way that aligns with your nervous system. I have helped my clients find a best fit career, one that aligns with their neurodiversity, as well as best fit relationships, and arrangements for a better organized life. In addition to improving self awareness.

Consider that you will have family members who also have ADHD, whether or not they've been diagnosed. This knowledge may help you better understand your family, both the one you choose and the one you were born into.

People with ADHD live in a permanent present and have a hard time learning from the past or looking into the future to see the inescapable consequences of their actions. “Acting without thinking” is the definition of impulsivity, and one of the reasons individuals with ADHD have trouble learning from experience.

Areas of focus in ADHD therapy:

Making peace with your experiences and healing your personal wounds.

Treating executive function challenges. Developing skills and strategies to help better organize your life and improve your day to day functioning. Confronting ‘doom piles’.

Emotional Dysregulation

Coping with rejection whether perceived or actual (sometimes called Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria or RSD).
